چکیده

The West Indian poet Mervyn Morris (1937-) is renowned for espousing the importance of a national language in creating literature as well integrating European poetic heritage with Caribbean literary traditions. Through an exploration Morris’s selected poems, paper discusses role plays shaping themes diasporic writing and postcolonial identity, argues that his works show deep awareness fundamental aspects British culture. Since “refuses to be trapped excesses post-modern Romanticism or political propaganda parading nationalism” (Thompson), also looks at presentation eternal values like love humanity celebrated poems. By foregrounding frequent use epiphanies poetry, conveys human affection frame colonial history. (PF)
